General Information:

  • 12 species
  • most commonly isolated : E. cloacae, E. aerogenes

Clinical Significance:

  • opportunist associated with urinary tract infections and sepsis
  • nosocomial pathogen in ICU

Test Results:

  • Lactose fermentation: positive (pink colonies)
  • HE/XLD : positive (yellow colonies)
  • IMViC :   -/-/+/+
  • Urea : positive (E. cloacae)
  • TSI : A/A
  • H2S : negative
  • Motility : positive
